Photographer's Note

Biking is a big sport in South Africa. Due to the great weather we have here (no snow in winter, and more sunny days per year most places) we can almost ride throughout the entire year.

The more serious amateur riders often attend what is called "track days", during which you are able to take your own motorbike on a real racing track. This is, as someone once put it, the most fun you can have with your clothes on... :-)

I also ride on track days (I own a BMW R1100S Sport), but I try to take my camera with whenever I can. This was taken during the time I took a rest from screaming around the track. It took some time to get the panning and the shutter speed right, and I hope you like the results.

Remember that this is an amateur rider, not a professional, and that I only had a 28-70mm zoom with me when I took the photo.

By the way, this is a new Ducati 999, which is an awesome bike!

(If you crash your bike on a track day, you are usually not insured. A few minutes after this was taken a guy crashed a Ducati 996 right in front of me. I was able to take a few pics of the crash, but I still need to decide if I want to post it or not. The guy didn't have a scratch on him, but the damage to his Ducati is thousands of South African Rands...)
