Photographer's Note

The Sable antelope (Hippotragus niger) is one of South Africa's larger antelopes. It gets its name from the beautifull back-swept horns. It is allso known as the "Swartwitpens" in Afrikans - black with white belly. The colour can vary from brown to jet-black. They are found in open woodland and are dependent on water. Diet is mainly grass and broad leaves.

This image was taken at the Johannesburg Zoo and unfortunately I could not exclude the man-made structures in the background.
