Photographer's Note
Another picture from the Kaolack market. I suppose that many people who came there were from Mali. Gert complained that Tuaregs in Mopti already in 1982 wanted to pose for the photos for money. I was luckier. Of course, they saw me, how couldn't they when I was the only pale woman in sight, but it was all. I could take as many photos as I liked. The problem for me was, to take pictures or movies.
These photos were taken with my Sony camera, so without geotag. I do not remember the place.

Another Tuareg man here ( I liked this one very much)

Hello Malgo,
This place looks like it wasn't right on the major tourist track. The market is obviously meant for local customers. Very few tourists would come here to buy a sheep or a goat. Both photos are very nice, but the men were certainly watching you carefully. The man in the WS is standing in a rather funny, "relaxed" way.
It was a lot of fun to take photos in the market areas of Mopti too. The most annoying Tuaregs and children were mainly outside restaurants and hotels, according to my diary. There were no problems in the markets. I noted in the diary that most tourists took photos with very strong lenses from a distance, so they wouldn't have to walk on the dirty ground (which I did, of course). ;-)
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
First.....you're a first class lady traveler. The places you been were extraordinary esp the locals you met like this one and sharing the experiences with Gert is wonderful. Yeah, I've this posing for money in Egypt too.
You said you were the only pale woman in sight....the way they looked at you , 'were they comparing you with their goats??' - I mean human pale face or your charms I would said.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello,
An image rarely seen in Europe, maybe in some isolated rural areas maybe. Nice atmospheric shot.
Have a good weekend.

Hello Malgo,
The photographs do look so much better in the large format, what a pity we cannot have something like the old Beta, where we don't have to keep reloading!
This photograph looks much more like a market then your previous one, which was a good introduction to the people and the animals.
You have certainly projected the sense of a large market selling mostly goats. I imagine that the wealth of the tribesmen rests in the number of animals that they own.
The typical headdresses suggest that the sand can be a problem and the hot sun.
Have a lovely but safe day,
Bev :-)

Hi Malgo,
You have captured well a aily life scene. The point of view is showing the animals offered for sale at the market. The persons had a good reaction when you took the picture. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
Another excellent impression of the market, the group of white goats is well placed in the centre of the picture with the men in blue and greenish clothes well placed around them. You handled the bright light well.

Hello Malgo, this shot complements your previous shots very nicely.
Here we see just how busy the market is, with even more people visible in the background.
Interesting that some of the men are aware of you, probably unused to seeing a pale faced woman.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello dear Malgo,
How strange that these Tuareg people didn't pester you for money to take their photographs - so Gert is probably correct in saying that this wasn't a tourist area but a market which very few foreigners would ever visit.
Your main photographs shows the open market very clearly with lots of clean looking animals as well as tall lean men clothed in blue.
But, like you, I very much like your workshop photograph of the man relaxing and taking his weight on his stick. Do they use these sticks as we would use a walking stick or do they use them, like a crook, to control their animals?
Two lovely photographs and an excellent note.
Wonderful!
Take care and stay safe.
Kind Regards,
John. xx

Hello Malgo,
A superb daily life scene from this remote outdoor goat & sheep market. If I am not mistaken the men in blue are Tuareg. Tfs!

Dear Malgo,
They didn't want the money maybe because you were a lady and the didn't want to ask money for that reason? Anyway, the result is a very stunning everyday life reportage.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Malgo.
A view of this cattle market in this desolate landscape, the grouped sheep look very thin, the shepherds or owners give a curious note with their tunics.
A good photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Malgo,
You were watched by the three men in front, traditionally dressed - but one guy has modern sun-glasses...
Vibrant scene from an outdoor market.
Have a nice sunday,

Hello, in spite of the lack of grass in this arid area the farmers succeed in rearing healthy sheeps and goats. They are exhibited in that market. These vendors are waiting for a buyer. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
