Photographer's Note
Dead Vlei in the Sossusvlei area. Namibias tourist attraction number one. Visit the place and you will understand why. The place is an old dried out pan surrounded by sand dunes reaching the hights of 300 meters. In the pan you can find old dead trees making the place magical. From the gate of the National Park, (Namib-Naukluft National Park) you drive 60 km and then you drive on 4 km of sand, 4x4 is a must. Finally you have to walk 1,5 km in sand. Hopefully without any wind.
It was really a dream coming true visiting this amazing and special place. All guide books tells that its best visiting the place at Sun rise or Sun set. But the park have to work on their routines since the opening hours at the park is just the same and the you have to add the 65 km drive.

Hello Stefan,
The lonely dead tree is a very important element in the composition of this beautiful nature picture and
it's very good you placed it off-center.
The three horizontal layers are wonderful with the strong contrast between the orange dune and the
steel blue sky.
I wonder why the sand on the flat surface has a different colour from the dune.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Stefan,
Wicked image. A strong graphical accent rich on contrast with a bit of a Rothko feel to it. The little tree makes such a difference to the composition.
This image is rich in its simplicity.
Wonderful....

Hej Stefan,
Another rare appearance of you. I envy you to have seen this marvellous, magic place. Just for a change, this lonely tree is a perfect and necessary part of the composition. Normally I'm not too crazy about lovely trees but this is really something. The colours are provided free, but you have done well to capture the wrinkles of the hill's "skin". You were lucky too that two tiny clouds appeared at the right place and moment.

Wow! Awesome capture of the sand dunes, like the sand dunes we in the American southwest which I posted. It's simple but effective composition. I like the lone dead tree. Great pov and it has a good dof with nice details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

Hej Stefan,
I have seen some other pictures from Namibia here on TE. There must be many fascinating places here with such marvellous desert colors. You have indeed captured a very interesting view here with these simple, but superb colours. I hope you are pleased with your life in Africa!

Looks like a color palette, simple yet attractive.
I wish there were a balancing item on the upper right, a white cloud could be marvelous.

hello Stefan
A pure color palette with an eyecatching dead black tree, and the small white cloud coming out of the top of the dune.
Congratulations

Hello Stefan.
A most impressive minimalistic photo which makes a great picture of the three bands of colour. The composition places the dead tree very well, and the curves of the dune make a pleasing horizon against the polarised blue. I am sure I could not manage the walking in the sand to get to this place, but no doubt it would be worth the effort! Good note - thanks.

Andrew

Hi Stefan,
We will be visiting this beautiful place in a few weeks time, and your shot is good inspiration for getting nice shots. Love the completely lonely single tree in the vast emptiness, and tehe contrast between the colours of white red and blue are great.

Hello,
A place I visited and I kept a strong memory of this place. For landscape photos it is a great place.
Interesting your minimalistic composition with only the lonely tree lost in the pan in front of the sand wall.
Yves.

Hello Stefan,
The whole beauty of it is simplicity. I think that these views only can be taken in Africa. Fascinating!
