Photographer's Note
Here is another shot taken on a trip down to Sossusvlei. In the foreground you can see the Tsauchab river running, a most unusual sight in the Namib. Storm clouds hang overhead and eventually the river will flow as far as Dead Vlei

That's quite unusual as far as I am concerned. :-)
Is the road placed on the river bed? Was it flooded by the recent storm?
Beautiful landscape...
TFS.

Hello Rosemary,
Another fine picture with wonderful layers of colour and contrasts. Sharp as a pin too. It almost reminds me of those pictures made behind glass by using different colours and layers of sand. And that sky: it is fantastic - did you use a polarising filter for this one?
Interesting note too - I presume that this is a rare sight and that most of the time the Tsauchab river is just a dry riverbed.
Have a great weekend!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. I see again that you have used a tiny aperture (f/32). Do you have a reason for this? Having made that enquiry, I must say that I don't see any sign of lack of sharpness due to diffraction!

Hi Rosemary,
As I'm making some research about Namibia, I see thousands of photos from there, but yours stand out from the rest, both for their colours and the weather conditions.
This one looks so dramatic with the huge shadow covering the background dune and contrasting with the ones in front. The low clouds are quite something to see and it's a very beautiful show that nature offered you, as you were there at the right moment to catch it all.
Intense colours, great contrasts and unique instant.
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Rosemary!
Fascinating topography, with the beautiful red sand hills! And the brooding cumulus clouds overhead, providing some local shadows really add to the photo. A very original and very fine photo indeed! Warm regards,

Hello Rosemary,
I like this composition, because this picture has a very good balance between the subjects (water-land-blue sky-clouds).
Also the light is great: this creates a lots of deatils, but creates also the beautiful colors.
Friendly regards,
Robert

Hello Rosemary,
The Namib desert was not green when I saw it! The cropping is excellent giving layers of colour and beautiful undulating shapes. The cloudy conditions has made the light more interesting. You live in a fabulously interesting country and have captured a lovely record on TE.
It is bluebell time here (they are early this year because of the prolonged warmth and sun) - I took a photo with you in mind (after your comment about my daffodil picture and the English spring). If it is any good I may post it.
Best wishes, Ann

Very pleasant nature picture, with lots of colors and 5 horizontal layers . I like particularly the shadows on the hills, and the blue sky and green vegetation which burst out of the desert ochre.
Congratulations

Hello Rosemary,
A powerfull compositon. The different light and shadow areas are very well placed and the amount of detail in the cloudy sky looks amazing. Unusual for the region but great to look at. TFS.

Rosemary
A+ landscape, the colours are beautifully rendered, but the light and dramatic clouds make this image for me.
The layer at the bottom breaks the image very well, Namibia clouds are like NZ , very low.
