Photographer's Note
This is the wife of the chief of the San village we visited. During the "healing dance" in the evening she was quite "spunky", starting to dance wereas the other women were sitting and singing.
The San live in Bushmanland, a concervacy as big as Belgium, divided in about 30 villages. You can visit them with the people of the Tsumkwe lodge. Your visit provides them with food for a week. They are allowed to hunt the traditional way, but when there is a draught, the wildlife goes away, and the San get dependant on Maize meal,...

Nice portrait of an interesting subject. I have to agree with martel that the background elements are a distraction. You could crop the image or alternatively when taking the shot (next time???) try to compose so to eliminate background distractions, or use a larger aperture if your camera allows.

The shot of the main subject is fantastic. Crystal clear and pin sharp, with great colors and a great expression. I agree with the others, though, that the background elements are distracting. In particular, I wish that the person on the ground did not have part of her face cut off and that it didn't appear that the tree trunk was growing out of grandma's hand.
