At this time of year, as the snow melts, some High Atlas meadows should be carpeted with alpine wildflowers. The flowers are stunning evidence that this ecosystem survives despite the region's continuing deforestation, erosion and desertification. An archive photo, scanned from a Fuji Velvia slide.
