Hello Steve,
It's a wonderful portrait where the darkness behind the man enhances the features of his face, clothes and the book. Just as nice as the portrait are the details and texture of the wooden door. It's a very good photo with perfect use of the light and contrasts.

Yes, marvellous chia.... that thing that Klaudio mentioned. Also, the gentle light on the fellow's right side, darkness enveloping the space behind him. The timber frame adds interest too, with it's flowing pattern of lines echoing those in his garb. I wonder what that book is...

That's a beautiful ethnological study, Steve! The timing and framing are spot on. And I really dig the way the priest emerges from the dark - it's very evocative.
