Photographer's Note
How stupid of me to cut off the upper part of Trajan's Kiosk. But I was so happy to see the Arabic couple under the palm. For me, they seemed to be more important.
What is the largest temple in the world? To answer this question we first have to establish what a temple is. Although roughly defined as a structure reserved for religious or spiritual activities not all religions use the word temple. In the Western Christian tradition temple is rarely used for example so these churches and cathedrals will be excluded.
With this definition, the largest temple in the world is Angkor in Cambodia, the second is Karnak, the third is Borobudur.
Although badly ruined, a few sites in Egypt are more impressive than Karnak. It is the largest ancient temple complex in the world and represents the combined achievement of many generations of Egyptian builders. Karnak actually consists of sever
An avenue of sphinxes leads to the pylon.
Karnak complex is so large that I would love to spend more time there. There are some parts that I haven't seen. was there in the afternoon, when I left, the light seemed especially beautiful. I have seen the photos by Chris, he complained about the high temperature, above 40 degrees. In December, the weather was perfect, around 26-28, good for visiting the
ruins. But one can't have all. In Hurghada, it was cold, too cold for snorkelling for me.
I hope you will like it. Two more pictures in Workshop, More attractive are large views.

Hello Malgo,
Finally a place I remember well. I realize from the note that I have seen the three largest temples (but you missed Borobudur, didn't you?). There were probably just as many tourists in Karnak during my visit. The main photo and first WS have very beautiful warm tones and are very sharp.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
The trees is giving a topuch of nature to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of this section of the Karnak temple. The light is making the colors to stand out. Your note is giving a lot of information, have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
So I haven't seen the second largest temple in the world.
I found the palm tree in the photo but to see the Arabic couple below I need new glasses...
I like the beautiful reddish colour of the entire site. It's so appealing and makes a good contrast with the sky.
Beautifully decorated side of the large stone in the center of the foreground. Fantastic avenue of ram-headed sphinxes.
I can understand that one needs a lot of time to see everything. How long were you there?
Still quite a few visitors. Perhaps most are Egyptian.
As for the temperature: I was in Aswan once in early April. The warmest there was then 39°C but it felt like 25°C in Belgium. So not that hard to bear. But Chris was there in July... I'm afraid that might be a bit too much for me...
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
The light looks very good, at this point, the low sun giving long shadows and illuminating the the stones and sculptures of the temple, beautifully.
I was interested to see the the rams' headed sphinxes. The ancient Egyptians had so much symbolism, and their after-life seemed more important than their life on Earth.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

the temple looks very ruined but we can see the original beauty, the row of statues is impressive and probably would bring the believers closer to faith.
yes, heat can spoil a trip. in goias city I walked a lot under 37 celsius and I finished my private walking tour two house before because I was so tired and upset I thought I would faint in the streets.
take care

Ciao Malgo, there are no problems for the cut in the main photo, there are many the same, while yours with the Arab family will remain unique. Three beautiful photos, and this place always remains in the heart and memory of those who visit Egypt, in my opinion one of the 3 most beautiful sites together with the pyramids and the valley of the Kings. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Malgo
I've been to and climbed all over #1 and #3 of the biggest temples but not, I'm afraid #2.
An excellent photo in the afternoon with the temple almost glowing. Per usual 2 useful photos in the WS.

Hi Malgo.
A wonderful image, with this golden tone that gives the impressive monument a touch of gold, I suppose because of the afternoon sun, although I remember that this stone has a beautiful sand color, magnificent perspective and the other photos of the WS.
A great photo, with beautiful color tones, I like the lighting and excellent sharpness.
Very well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Malgo
That golden tone highlights the beauty of those ruins, undoubtedly an imposing building in distant centuries.
Sharpness and exposure are perfect to me.
Best regards
