Photographer's Note

Excavations around the the Djoser Step Pyramid near Saqqara dating from 2650 BC have revealed some fascinating ruins. At top left on the far left is the bent / bat pyramid dating from 2,600 BC & to its right, the Red Pyramid, dating from 2,551 BC, the first successful smooth sided pyramid built in Egypt.

Saqqara served as the necropolis for Memphis, the old capital, and is located 12 miles south of Cairo.
