Photographer's Note
Horus is the hawk headed entity at left and Thoth is the Ibis headed God at right. They are purifying Queen Hatshepsut (who ruled from 1479 BC – 16 January 1458 BC, & was chiseled away by her stepson Thutmose III). Thutmose played 2nd fiddle to his Aunt and stepmother Hatshepsut for the first part of his co-regent reign with her.
Although his relations with immediate rival family members might not have been good, he went on to become one of the greatest Pharaohs Egypt has ever seen, conquering unprecedented new territories & enriching ancient Egypt. His reign was from 1479 BC –1425 BC. He became the sole ruling Pharaoh in 1458 BC.

Hello Chris,
I suppose I have seen this wall although I don't specifically remember it. There were quite a lot of interesting details at Karnak. It's a fascinating work and taken with good light and perfect sharpness.
Best regards,

Bonjour Chris,
Cette oeuvre d'art est impressionnante. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de l'oeuvre d'art antique. La lumière donne de belles teintes aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hi Chris,
I have recently watched again the movie "Gods of Egypt" with Gerhard Butler. It sort of helped me to get a better orientation in the Egyptian mythology :)
I have yet to learn the actual history now.
There are not many places where the colors have been preserved. I have seen some in Medinet Habu.
Great reportage from ancient Egypt,

Hello Chris,
I wonder if you have ever taught Ancient Egypt to your students! I used to teach it to a class of seven year olds and knew just how interested they would be, from building pyramids that they could crawl inside, to studying and sending messages in hieroglyphs!
I love photographs that show the history of these ancient peoples, like this, which reveal their skill and artistry.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

as we can see here, the removal of old political personages in the more recent governments was an ancient rule. Lenin and stalin loved do that.. impressive artwork and curious "official vandalism"
take care

Hello Chris.
These reliefs with traces of color in the figures of Horus and Thoth are magnificent, but the figure of the queen surprises with that type of chiseled as granules, but it seems that they have tried to erase it.
Wonderful colors, soft tones, excellent sharpness and splendid light.
Very well done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Chris
A good photo of this interesting scene. I am wondering - would there have been more red colour originally or has it been touched up (or none of the above)?
cheers

Hello Chris, Interesting story about the Egyptian Pharaohs. The chiselled away Hatshepsut figure looks intriguing. I like the chain from the ankhs around her. Ankh- or key of life - is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol that was most commonly used in writing and in Egyptian art to represent the word for "life". I had a gold pendant in this shape that I lost in a strange way.
