Photographer's Note

The Abu al-Haggag Mosque was constructed within Luxor Temple, when all that was known to be there was little more than a sand dune.

Since the temple's discovery, however, the mosque has still been used on a regular basis, with Islam forming the latest in a long line of religions to be worshipped within the grounds.
