Photographer's Note

This posting is part of my travelogue to Egypt and Israel.

Inside Mohammed Ali Mosque is what one would expect of a grand mosque. As always, everyone has to take off the shoes, and have appropriate clothing covering the shoulders.

During our visit, we did not find many people praying, it was more a touristic destination than a place of worship. The interior of this mosque, like its exterior, resembles the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, however in Istanbul there's a separate are only for people that are praying.

A marble tomb inside the mosque is the resting place of Mohammed Ali.

This photo was taken with a 10.5mm fisheye lens, to cover as much of the interior space as possible.
