Photographer's Note
The third stop on our jeep tour through the most beautiful southwest beaches of Boa Vista was Praia da Varandinha. Correct me Jorge, if I am wrong, but varandinha is a diminutive version of varanda, similar to English veranda, so it translates as "a little balcony". Varandinha may be the most photogenic beach on Boa Vista. There are more photographed beaches but for different reasons. Santa Monica Beach is the most paradisiac and I will show it to you later. Santa Monica is very much flat though with perfect sand and perfect water nothing else in miles. Varandinha has fantastic rock formations, quite a rare sight on Boa Vista. Again, this beach is simply impossible to find without a guide. There are no road signs really at certain point, just sand, and not a real road. If you use your phone as a satnav, you will pay more for the phone usage and roaming than for the taxi, and taxis are not cheap unless you are really good in bargaining.
Cape Verde Islands, similarly to Canary Islands are of volcanic origin. The most notable example of it the the island of Fogo, which was recently an active volcano. Boa Vista is the most flat of all Cape Verde Islands, which means that it is the oldest and its volcanoes have already eroded over time. Praia da Varandinha is one of the places where you can witness the volcanic origin of the island by enjoying the amazing rock formations.

Hello Mariusz,
A very nice view of this quite beach and I really like the balance and the composition with the wide ocean and white sand at right and the beautiful shapes of the rock at left. There is a really nice play of shadows around it as well.

Hello Mariusz,
The rock formation reminds me of a profiled prowling lion with its nose pointing out to sea. Nice warm cold colour contrasts and good sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz
Beautiful view of this rock. Having a good guide is encouraging. Good sharpness and exposure. The shadows have created good depth and perspective.

Hello Mariusz,
Rocks on a sandy beach are always attractive to me, since we do not know this combination on the coast in Belgium.
The shadow of the rock in the sand reminds me of a crowned head.
Best regards, Paul

Hello my dearest friend and have a nice day
and a happy evening
a dynamic photo and a great contrast here presenting a different
environment with this huge rock...
Now the word Veranda..in greek language is
the same...as βεράντα...thanks for your useful
notes that Varandinha may be the most
photogenic beach on Boa Vista

Hi Mariusz,
impressive rocks on the bank of this beach, good management for contrast between sunlight and shadows, excellent sahrpness with the view of all these holes. Your view reminds me the trip in the most volcanic Cap Vert volcanic island, the strange and beautiful Fogo, tfs.

mariusz
yes, varandinha is a small veranda.
maybe the name came because these holes in the stone looks like buildings filled with many miniature verandas.a marvelous view showing the beautiful stone and the beach.
take care

Hello Mariusz,
Nice allocation of the picture space, from the beautiful sea colors to the neat sand and the imposing rock with superior clarity of its carved outlines.
My best regards,

Hello Mariusz,
With a little imagination, this could be a ship wreck on the beach. Nice composition portraying the flavor of the place.

MT
