Hello Malgo,
I understand your fascination for this vase. It's a real beauty and I also like it a lot.
Still, I'm even more impressed by your second photo in the WS showing the theatre in Delphi and its surroundings.
For my very first trip after I started working, I dreamed to visit the ancient places of continental Greece.
However, it was only during my second trip (in 1978) that I actually got there.
As for your first photo in the WS: I don't quite understand the story. It looks like you photographed this column in Delphi but your note refers to Istanbul.
Wikipedia says that this part of an ancient Greek sacrificial tripod was originally found in Delphi but later relocated to Constantinople.
I cannot remember to have seen it in Delphi. The environment of the serpent column in your photo really looks like Delphi to me.
Best regards, Paul

Talking To PaulVDV: Serpent Column

Hello Paul,

Maybe I didn't write it clearly. When I saw this column in Delphi, I thought: "Strange, I saw a very similar one in the Hippodrome". And I was not wrong. The column in Delphi (in this photo) is a copy, the original one is in Istanbul and I have many photos of it too (but not on TE).
Here you can see it:

Have a nice Sunday
