Great bjtindle 2004-09-05 2:48

I agree with SophieL, I would not have thought this landscape to be a part of India either!!! Not sure exactly WHAT I thought, but not this. Very beautiful!

Default To bjtindle: india

hi betty ,
actually it's ok if you didnt think that a landscape like this could exist in india. this is because the west has been exposed to the state of rajasthan and now also kerala . most books on india have photographs of rajasthan which is actually desert with some extravagant colours.
however most people tend to forget that the biggest parts of the himalayas and thus some of the highest mountain peaks lie in india.
this county is extremely diverse and this diversity goes across 15-20 dimensions. this goes from landscape, languages, cuisines, customs, castes, religions etc . if you ever get your hands on a indian currency note , take a close look at it. there are 15 languages printed on it.
take a look at some of the indian photographs on this site itself. you should be able to get a hunt of the diversity that exists here.
take care
