Hi Beijo,
What kind of procession is it? From the date (April 17) I presume it was held during Easter...

In my country we have a similar procession (throwing flower petals by little girls) but due to Corpus Christi which takes place in June... On Easter Monday there is a tradition to pour water on other people and indeed it happens in the whole country ;)

Hi Adam,
the procession is to honour the local Patroness Saint and I guess the reason why it's on Easter Monday is because it's easier to get more guests from neighbour villages, since this village is really small and it would be a poor procession without guests :) I was a guest myself :D

About the petals, it's usual to throw them in processions and even on wedding cerimonies.
