Good Luko 2004-05-30 10:18

Bold compo, it could have worked thanks to the left side woman who's guiding our reading to the center of the image.

However I think there are a few things that are really distracting :
- legs of the statue in upper right side corner, bothering because it doesn't relate to anything and specially bright tone that attracts the eye
- the bags in the foreground : very messy
- the woman we barely see but somehow guess behind the guy, also a distracting feature.
- too much contrast, too many pitch black areas.

Same problem as in Maciek's opera shot...

Default To Luko: about the flaws

Hi Luko,
i agree with most of the things you mentioned. the difficulty with this type of shots is that you dont have enough time to compose it as you want. they'll notice you and the moment will be gone.

but about the contrast and darkness, it was on purpose. in my view those dark parts dont add anything to the content of the picture. what i want to highlight are the faces and higher contrast helps to draw attentions to them.

Thanks for comments.
