Great foxy 2021-08-05 7:14

Hello Paul,
A new coat of Golden paint is definitely needed to make this temple more 'Prestige and Wealth' for the Chinese , the first impression is very important.
I see that this temple is very Chinese's influence. The Gods , they're praying and the interiors too.
I think it's a temple for praying 'Good Fortune' and 'Better Future'. Just like the WS1 - A sign of Prosperity esp the image of Bats. It's a very striking in colours !!!
I only recognize the 王 because it's my surname Wong in Chinese character, its means King :-)
To be honest, I'm curious the Chinese in BSB. Are they speaking in Mandarin, Cantonese or other Chinese's dialects.
Just like Malaysia, we all speak different dialects. Most spoken is Cantonese ( Hong Kong )or Mandarin ( China ).
Thanks for sharing this small Chinese temple.
Loong

Default To foxy: What language do the Chinese in Brunei speak?

Thank you Loong,

I'm sorry but I can't answer your question from personal experience.

But Wikipedia says:

'The Chinese minority in Brunei speaks a number of Chinese varieties.
The main varieties of Chinese spoken include Hokkien, Cantonese and Hakka.

Mandarin is the language of instruction in some Chinese schools, and there are also some radio broadcasts in Mandarin.
Mandarin is also used as the lingua franca among the Chinese community.'

Kind regards,
Paul
