Interesting story Greg,
It's so nice to see that still exist people who care for such simple things.
I think your photo is a good experiment. I guess your intention was to set the bird house in fg - slightly blurred - to get more depth and at the same time make the photo dynamic with the repetition of the same pattern. The vivid red/blue colours of the houses make them a fine focal point. However, in my humble opinion, I feel that too much room is dedicated to the shades. I would have preferred a more balanced image lights/shadows.
Somehow I prefer the second image in the ws, regarding this lights/shadows balance.
By the way, isn't the hole in the houses too small? It looks as though a normal bird would not enter into it!

thanks for the comment, I agree that the #2 picture is better and I can see what you mean about too much of the shade in the top picture.
The holes are sized for various birds around here and we have wrens that like a hole of only 1 inch but across all the houses the holes are different sizes. If the hole is too large other birds get in to the eggs or even squirrels sometimes. Greg |
