Great taivo 2005-04-21 10:29

I guess you are as passionate about travel as I am! Chinese architecture is very interesting but I think the walls look a bit uninspired, just plain red. Although a great contrast with the blue sky though.

Default To taivo: Cambodia

These 2 websites are excellent, & should help you in your trip to Cambodia in August.

I have been overland from Bkk to Siem Reap & return in 2003. if you have any questions just ask. I can't help you with Siem Reap to HCMC though.

Cheers

Thanks Chris.

Actually, I know that website and I posted some messages in past. It's indeed a valuable source of information for the more adventurous travellers...

I'll go beyond Siem Reap though, my itinerary:

6 August: Bangkok-Aranya Prathet/border/Poipet-Siem Reap (train/bus)
7-8 August: Ankor Wat/Siem Reap
9 August: Siem Reap-Tonle Sap lake/floating villages/Battambang (boat)
10 August: Battambang-Kompong Chang (bus)
11 August: Kompong Chang-Phnom Penh (bus)
12 August: Phnom Penh
13 August: Phnom Penh/border/Chau Doc (boat)-Can Tho (bus)
14 August: Can Tho-Saigon (bus)

The 'Inter' Hotel in Aranya Prathet was pretty good for an overnight stay. Reception arranged for a tuk tuk to pick me up in the morning, & take me to Poipet. I think I paid 50 baht for the Tuk tuk one way.

I've read on Lonely Planet that a o/w airconditioned taxi to Siem Reap can be hired in Poipet for $25 US, & seats 5 people. That's cheaper than the bus to Siem Reap which I paid $6 US for.

Enjoy!
