Hello Marie-Louise,
These buildings are among the most beautiful in architectural history and the surrounding darkness seems to enhance the fine features of the bell-tower. The close view from a low angle underscores its impressive height. I would have been tempted to "cheat" on reality by cloning out the upper right corner, which slightly disturbs the harmony of the composition.

To emka: Florence
Before going to Pisa on our own, we were in Florence for 5 days with our Italian class ! True ! It was crowded, but not everywhere...
This picture was taken on the night of our arrival. We had been eating in a restaurant south of the Ponte Vecchio, and we were waklking back to our apartments which were in the vicinity of the train station. Well, this walk at that time of night was very pleasant with not too many crowds.
