Hello Gert,
Just a pity that Sadam was lynched and murdered before he could receive a fair trial. He would have been found guilty and imprisoned of course. The resulting 2 Gulf Wars absolutely devastated Iraq and left millions dead. But no imprisonment for GWB, Blair or Howard. The mosque looks wonderful. Tfs!

Thank you Chris,
Saddam was tried and sentenced in a reasonably fair way. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_of_Saddam_Hussein I think you mixed him up with Libya's al-Gaddafi (spelled in a dozen ways). Regards, Gert |

Hej Gert
Thanks for posting. Considering Saddam wasn't executed until December 2006, long after the war had finished, I was mistaken that he was summarily executed. So yes, he had a trial, although International human rights groups, including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and UN bodies such as the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that the Iraqi Special Tribunal and its legal process did not meet international standards for a fair trial. |
