Hello,
This summer I would like to visit Pakistan and Karakorum. I plan to make two or three shorter treks (max 7 days). Which trek have you chosen? I am thinking about Batura Glacier trek, one in Nanga Parbat Region and maby one in Baltistan near Skardu. What do you recommend? What are your impressions about this region, maby any tips? We plan rather to not hire porters and guides - is it safe to trek without them? Thanks in advance for reply, Kind Regards, Wojtek |

Hello Wojtek,
My last experience in Pakistan was in 2000. Pakistani are really kind and honest people, but I think that things are always easier when you travel with local people (even only one). In fact, my trek was organized by a french agency which work with a local agency. My trek was in Shimshal region (very close to the Kunjerab pass, near the chines border), the land of Isamelian people (Aga khan). It's a very beautiful region. But, baltistan and Nanga Parbat reigons are known to be some beautiful places, maybe a little be less desert places. Best regards, Laurent. |
