Hello Flavia,
It's a very nice little, rather crispy photograph. I agree that the dog (and also the carriage) are slightly too dark but I think that doesn't matter too much, as the yellow & white colors of chapel stands out and contrasts the rest quite well.
I'm no good at PP work but I find feather's PP work quite good and managed to enhance the overall quality of this pic.
Also, I suggest trying more different PoV so you don't get too many shadows - fill-in flash may not work well (unless u've got a very strong flash) cuz the flash cannot lighten up both dog and carriage. And personally I'd not try to take pictures under a tree - unless I have to.

To kebek: I have the same feeling about the photo
When I was looking the photos I took that day, that is the photo I think had the most balanced composition. And of course I have (we all do) to be thankful to the nature in Bulgaria:)
