I sympathise with you about the focus.

What you have are lovely colors, and the bright red leaves in the foreground. I wonder if you'd taken a shot with sharp focus on the red leaves, leaving the background to fade into a blur of colors, or at least a bit of a blur, it might have been more striking.

Whatever, it was a good shot, and I wish I'd been with you to take photos along that colorful trail.

Hello Ian

Thank you for the critique and feedback.
When it comes to making a more intimate "portrait" of someone I prefer to use the standing frame, this one included.
She just happened to pass me by and I took the oppurtunity and took the shot.
The horses position within the frame was chosen on purpose.
The fact was that when I took this photo I actually said to myself "This one is going to be good!"
