Believe it or not, your comment is so apt. One of the groups who were campaigning for the statue to not go ahead was a group representing single parents. They said that the statue did not give consideration for single parent families and that it was deliberately leaving out a section of the community. A strange way to think when it is at the end of the day a piece of sculpture that expresse the thoughts of the artist in what he believed was a positive way!

I have no personal problems with single parent or any other type of family groups as long as the children are well cared for and loved but I do have to say that my preference is for the traditional family group... perhaps I'm just old fashioned
