Hello Paul,

Your main photograph is nicely composed and shows an excellent display of the buildings you wished to describe. I'm not sure why, maybe there was a problem with the light, but the photograph seems to suggest a lot of pp. The similar scene in the w/s suggests the same pp work. However, the other photographs show both interesting aspects of the Ottoman buildings with more natural photography.
It was a tough decision for you. This is the best scene but not necessarily the best photograph.

I hope you are not offended.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Default To Royaldevon: Thank you

Thank you Beverley,

Of course I'm not offended.
I'm glad you took the time to discuss my photo. Criticism also includes the aspects that explain why something is not good or beautiful.

I thought it was a very nice view of the square in Bitola but realized my photo was not good.
By putting more PP work into it, I lost track of whether it made the picture better or worse.
When I work on a photo for too long to improve it, I eventually don't know anymore how anyone else will see it and it has actually become too artificial.

I could also have put this photo in the WS but I wanted so badly to show this view of Magnolia Square

I admit sometimes (perhaps often) I also want to show photos that I know are clearly less successful, but due to the fact that they - according to my personal opinion - show something interesting, I prefer to upload them rather than photos that are technically good but - again according to my personal opinion - show something dull.

This is the result of being essentially more a traveller rather than a photographer, I'm afraid...
In 'Learning about the world through photography', the emphasis for me is on 'world' and less on 'photography'.
But of course I want to learn and show better pictures. So your criticism is certainly welcome.

Kind regards,
