Niki
Again, I wanted to clarify that right now we are only in the brainstorming stage, so I think we can certainly be open to the having two types of books.
Why not launch two themes for the book, one for people one for places, and based on what we get we can decide on the format. Regarding the format, while I think that landscape photographs are usually horizontal, I don't think it is necessarily the case regrding people photographs.
But anyways, lets stay open to the possibilities and see what happens.

Hi Daniel
I think open brainstorming is a good idea. As you mention, it's better for landscapes to be horizontal if you only put one photo per page. If you put 2 smaller photos per page then a vertical format could be OK. But then again there are some good vertical landscapes and some good horizontal portraits.
As you say, lets stay open.

Hello Daniel,

Since you live in France, maybe you should get a copy of "Réponse Photo, Hors Série N°6" which has a large and detailed article about on line book printing. They've explored and try different solution. From what I read, Blurb might not be the most flexible.

Cheers,

Romain.

Default Trekearth Photobook themes opened

Hello:
In order to get an idea of the interest regarding the book, I have opened two themes:
People and Places
Please submit 5 photos with a "people" or "place" theme in each.
At least one should be a favorite. No other quality constraints will apply.
We count on you to submit only your best work!!
This is a preliminary step to get an idea of who wants to participate and to see what material we have to work on.
A group pool will be opened later in blurb (or an alternative provider) to which you can submit your full size photo when we are ready.
Thanks for your interest.

The TE Book Team (Just Daniel for now, but I hope not to remain alone for much longer in this)

Dejavu....

My thoughts on this book if you guys are really going to go through with it:

1. Keep it simple. A pizza is nice to eat but not nice to look at. I would therefore keep a single theme for a single book. Landscapes and portraits dont mix under almost any circumstances.

2. be ruthless. Democracy is fine for running a country its not fine for making a book. Be ruthless about quality and keep the number of images down down down. Dont try to make a 300 page book just to fit in as many people as possible. Keep it down to 150 or even less and publish only the best. It would be a big plus if you got someone impartial and professional to edit this down in the end to something that would resemble a professional product in terms of content and packaging.

In the end its better to be not involved in a project than involved in something that comes out like crap, and best to be involved in something good. I have a name on a book I wish never happened, so dont give yourselves cause for regret at the end of this process.

Indeed
keep it simple, democracy is often a killer.
it would be far more easier that one or two make a group,
request photos from members for their book-project,
show the participants a preview for their consent,
print it and offer it to the community.
In that way more books can be made with a specifique character.

but
don't become too serious about a pilot project
then you never get anything made.
Main thing is to achieve at least one project
then
easily others will follow, asking your experience and improve it for even better.

As owner of the theme Daniel, you are the only one who is authorized to remove a picture from it.
Here's the procedure:
- My Account
- Manage
- My Themes
- Edit
- Select Andreas' picture and click on Delete Selected

Hope this helps.
