Hi,
I use the Spyder2 Express also. I talked to the people in my local Calumet store, who were knowledgeable and very helpful generally. I think maybe the main limitation of the basic model is that it only works for one gamma setting. It works fine though, you can see the generated monitor progile being loaded at startup. A friend and I bought it together and share it, after all it's something you don't use every day.

The best monitors (both CRT and LCD) for image editing are made by Eizo. Unfortunately, they are very expensive. Cheap CRT monitor is much better than cheap LCD one.
