I also use cable release with my Nikon F80 whenever I have to venture into slow shutter speed photography ... and I find them very inexpensive also
RC would be a better option but a bit too expensive for me right now good luck with you decision ... cheers .... sarju |

I'm not sure you can plug in a cable release on a 350D.

Canon 350D has an E3 connector enabling it to accept the RS-60E3 Remote switch. It can also accept the RC1 or RC5 remote controllers - though I would be a little cautious to use them for bulb exposures (accidentally breaking the infrared beam would close the shutter).
All other Canon DSLRs use the N3 connector which has both a remote switch and the big brother - the timer controller - the latter allows time lapse photographer and all manner of time related photography options. |

A Bello!
OK Following everyone advise here it is clear that you need a Remote, whether you go for a cable or infa red (i recommend cable) is up tp you and your pocket. Incidently I belive the infrared control works like this in bulb mode, press once to open and re press to close shutter. So if anything broke the beam your photo is still cool. Out of bulb they follow the shutter speed selected on the camera. Costs are between €25 for a simple wired one, and €140 for top flash all singing and dancing ones with LCD displays. But what would you say if I told you how to make one..... I made my own control for my eos33 based on the Canon RS60E3 and it cost me €4. Follow this link and all the details are here for a homehand 350D controler. And you don't have to be an Electronic Expert. Canon have been using their voodoo dolls on me since. Obrigado Simone.. |
