When to use Re-Post

I am a bit confused about the Re-Post function.

Can you actually re post a different version of your photogragh?

Seems silly as all the criques and points will not reflect in the new image.

Or am I missing something.

I have done it a few times. When you do it theres a link to the original with all the critiques. So you keep them in your account but the photo is not visible in your gallery. Its a better option than just erasing the old photo and losing all the critiques I think.
