Seems I have overlooked this... probably was too busy with windmills ;-)
You're right there is definitely more than sunsets... and nobody should dare to pretend there are better sunsets than Dutch ones, or Rinie will stand up and fight !!!

what can i say, sunsets are beautiful to look at if taken correctly, same with sunrises, and they are readily available to everyone in the whole wide world, unless you live in a really deep caves, or somewhere where the sun doesnt set. surely its the most readily availible photo subject and that is why.

No, no, no, I won't fight, I'll bring you a detail of a warship this time ;-)
I haven't paid attention to sunsets, nor to other things, I'm afraid. No, I really won't fight, although from my window, I can see the greatest sunshine, I WILL NOT DO IT!!!!And that's final!

thanks for your reply guys.
imo we, as photographers, as learners of photography, have the obligation to try whatever subject avaible be it sunsets, sunrises, pets, kids, natural phenomena...
what i mean is: when i looked the first 15 pages of pictures here 4 hours ago, there were 24 images of sunset/sunrise...
shouldn´t we look the world around us more attentively? sunsets/sunrises are beaten paths and, of course, there will always be a great audience for them but so what?

I know what you mean Isabelle, but imo a good shot is a good shot, regardless of subject. A sunset, boats in a harbour, a road through a field of flowers, the country church etc etc - they're all photographic cliches and all present in huge numbers on TE. I think the sunsets are easier to identify at a glance so they stand out as a group. I love to see quirky, off-beat and unexpected subjects done well but I must say also : if you have a really great sunset shot, I want to see that too!
