first of all: i always have an exposure reduced by 0.7 to 1.3 EV (it's always easier to process underexposed rather than overexposed images)
second: i'd turn the mettering mode to "spot" and measure from the FG man's face
third: good to shoot in RAW

and last but not least: no need to "create" extra attention by selective-colouring to the foreground model if he is already the key "object" in the photo, in my opinion
