To whereami: Gate in center

Hi and thanks for your comment.

I agree too about the gate, the problem that i had was a whole bunch of trees and bushes to my right that prevented me from getting the composition that i would...

To Helisa: Lightning and lighthouse

Hi there!

I haven't been on here for a long time which is why i haven't replied until now!

The reason the lighthouse didn't have any effect on the lense is that i was on the landward side of...

To bmukherjee: Star trails

Hi!

Thank you for your comments :-)

I didn't shoot the foreground seperately, but instead i took 65 photos with 30 second exposures each, and then i stacked them in "star trail software" and...

To whereami: Water motion!

I 100% agree with you about the water, infact it was the first thing i noticed after i got the photo up on my computer! Its a shame really because this is the only one where the wave is splashing...

To ajschenning: Magenta sky

The magenta sky was most odd! I guess the clouds must have been close to this colour though, mainly because the white balance of everything else was spot on :-)
Maybe it was because it was taken...

To jellianne: Colours

Hi there!
The colours were much stronger than this in real life, but my camera had trouble reproducing it :-( so this is actually somewhat duler than the real scene was, it was amazing though!

To delpeoples: Composition

Hi Lisa
Thanks for your comments.
I did consider having the gate further to the right, but after testing the composition out, i realised that the post to the right of the gate was very important to...

To Bruno40: Lightning trigger

Hi Jorge!
A lightning trigger is a gadgit that you put on top of the camera and it fires the shutter whenver there is a flash of lightning, which makes it much easier to capture it!

To rgarrigus: Lightning trigger

Hi Bob!

Thank you for your comments.
Yes, indeed i did use a lightning trigger! :-)
It was much needed too because it wasn't dark enough to capture this under a really long exposure.

To JonteW: Camera settings

Hi there!

Thanks for your comments!
It was actually shot at f22, not f20, my mistake! I have changed it now though.
The ISO was set at 200 and this was plenty light enough for the exposure time...

To Asiulus: Old Village

Hi there

Thanks for your comments!
This was just one exposure yes. The sun was rising behind me to the right and this made the exposure quite easy to get first time round.
The colours of the sky...

To cadel: Shutter speed

Hi there!

Thanks for your comments :-)

The actual shutter speed was 1.5 seconds but the water was drawing out very fast indeed due to the very steep beach!

To ribeiroantonio: ISO for star trails

Hi Antonio!

Thank you for your comments.
I shot this at ISO 400 under strong moonlight, but rather than this being one long 38 minute exposure, it is actually many 30 second exposures combined.

To sergio_leitao7: Street Lights

I agree with you about the street lights, it was such a shame that i didn't have time to compose the shot further down the beach out of the way of the lights.
Nevermind, the results weren't too bad...

I think this shot is best for the Isle of Wight locals, or at least for people who live in Wootton. Not many people like this shot (friends from the mainland), but people who live on the island love...

To Rodrigues: Red dot

Hey! Thanks for your comments :-)
I didn't like the "red dot" much either but because its a marker buoy floating in the water, it has become blurred due to the long exposure. Maybe i will clone it...
