Re: To gringofil: the sky is like that

I tend to agree with Deke. When the first TV crews started going into China, I was amazed to see that the mountains and the light were just like the Chinese paintings. They weren't stylised paintings...

Re: To j_wyatt: Hmm...

Are we allowed to clone out major elements in TrekEarth images? (Of course, if you do it properly it shouldn't be detectable). Didi objected to my color spot in the winter trees pic and said the pic...

Re: To chabrenas: Original not a square

Thanks, Didi. I just signed up for TrekNature, then found that most of my African nature pics were not very good quality, so I'll have to wait until I manage some French ones. I'll take a look at...

Re: To chabrenas: Original not a square

>An old castle of a few centuries is never completely vertical taking into account the movements of ground.

Good point. In fact, when I applied a grid over the image, it was very difficult to...

Re: To chabrenas: Original not a square

Thanks, Didi. I'll try tomorrow. I must have been trying to do it the wrong way, because I got upload refused. I won't need to do anything for this image, because the 'original' looks correct now....

To chabrenas: Val castle

Didi, I've withdran my comments after seeing the workshop and the current version of the original pic. I still prefer the colour picture to the B&W but, as you remarked, I like high contrast in many...

Re: To chabrenas: Original not a square

Merci pour la rťponse, Didi. It's a pity trekearth only allows one image upload per 24 hours, as it would have been much easier to do a workshop than try to explain my suggestion in words. I'll use...

To Didi: winter trees

Hello Didi. Reading the TOS it looks as if you may be right, although I see plenty of examples here of selecting different areas of pics and processing them differently, which involves far more...

Re: Spot on pictures

Carry a compressed air can with you. With luck, you'll be able to blow off any dust before it gets more firmly attached - but don't touch lenses or sensors with the tube when you are blowing...

To LCannon: winter trees

Thanks, Lori. I have to admit that this pic was more successful than I had hoped. Once I'd post-processed it, all kinds of details showed up, giving it, as you pointed out, a Tolkien atmosphere. Made...

How was this pic taken?

I'm confused. I expected to see the solar disc blacked out by the moon. Why is it white? And what kind of camera uses a 6mm lens? Nice solar flare, though.
