I think you are very mistaken about the landscapes in India.
One well-known example: the Himalayas are already a large part of the country.

In 1994 I made an overland journey from New Delhi to Ladakh. On the way and in Ladakh I saw very impressive landscapes.
That was a journey before the time of digital photography.
