Very eye-catching image. I like the muted colours and the symmetry too.

I really like the framing you've used here. It adds a sense of drama - almost makes a statement about how imposing this building is.
I quite like the slightly muted colours and grainy effect in the sky.
I also like how the tower doesn't point directly into the corner. I think that having it slightly off-centre makes the image more powerful somehow.

Lovely, golden morning sunlight. Good composition and crop - really like the width you're showing here. Personally, I'm not keen on the bird because it draws the eye away from the temples (and the mood) without really adding anything.

Very crisp photo. I went here a few years ago - glad to see it's still standing!
One minor point - for me it would be a more powerful shot if the subject didn't intersect the horizon. Or failing that, blur the background to focus attention on the 'tree' itself.

I think I really like the fact you haven't tried too hard with this one. You've just let the lights and staircase do what they were designed to do - look good.
I like the off-centre focus of the lights and the colour tones.
    Very cool shot.

I've seen lots of photos of the TV tower, but never one like this. I think you did a good job of making it interesting and showing some detail. Really good idea to include the roof of the church too.
It could be said that the photo is slightly 'soft' i.e. not super-sharp, but together with that wonderful late evening sunlight and the dark clouds in the background, this all makes for an unusual and eye-catching shot.

Very eye-catching photo - I just had to open it up and have a closer look. Lovely shape of the dunes and the shadows are great.

But I have to ask - is this staged? It's not a problem if it is, I'm just interested.

Compositionally, I find the bottom, shadowy part of the photo to be unnecessary and it doesn't add anything to the shot. I did a very quick crop to show you what I mean, and posted it as a workshop.

I agree with the comment about the gate being in the centre - it makes the RHS of the picture look a bit empty somehow. That said, the inclusion of the path is more important than de-centralising the gate so I can live with it! The overall hue seems a bit green (unless it's my screen).
Other than that, it is a really good addition to your bluebell collection. Lovely shot.

Fantastic lines and colours. Rich patterns and a novel perspective make this a really good graphic work whilst at the same time showing something typical of this region.

A real shame about the guy in the background! You captured such a great expression - just simple happiness. I'm sure that if she were to see this photo, she'd be very happy!
I did a VERY quick workshop to try to get rid of the guy in the background - I'm just jealous really!

    Hi Dan,
Very striking shot. Powerful lines and a strong blue colour combined with an original PoV.
I personally find the bottom left hand corner a bit off-putting, particularly on the thumbnail. It's easier to see that it's part of the pattern on the full size image, but it still seems a bit awkward somehow.
But this is definitely my kind of shot. Very nice.

    Really good photo.
The wide angle lens has worked well in giving some space to this landscape. I really like the lines radiating outwards on the ground - it makes the photo feel very spacious. And the ground is mirrored by that wonderful cloud in the sky.
I think your positioning of the horizon is also very good. if the tops of those rocks were all beneath the horizon, they would lose some of their definition. Any higher, and they would obscure that cloud.
I think you got it just right.

    Hi Bev,

Compositionally, I think the photo is well framed; the wall providing a line towards the lower third point and the trees on either side focussing the viewer on the lake. And I think that had this photo been shot in better light, it could really be something special. Unfortunately that flat, midday sunshine has taken the depth and definition away from this shot.

I sometimes think that whenever I go out "photo hunting", that I'll see something that seems to tick all the boxes, and then "force" the photo when it doesn't really exist.

Overall, I do like it and the thumbnail definitely prompted me to take a closer look.

    Hi Jamie.
Lovely looking photo - very eye catching due entirely to the colour of that sky. When I first looked at it, I thought it must be artificial, but after reading your note realised (happily) that it wasn't.
I think you've done very well to retain the white colour of the snow in these circumstances.

I think this is a great photo. Wonderful colour and clarity.
I remember trying to take photos like this in Bali, and I struggled because I wasn't allowed to use flash - is that still the case?
I would say that the background is slightly distracting as it's not quite out-of-focus enough, but overall, a really good shot.

A really well composed photo. I like the layers of the ground, the hill and the sky - their simplicity makes for a very effective background. Maybe the colours are slightly subdued? - I'm not sure, but it's not a problem particularly.
I especially like the way the shadow points towards the other trees in the middle distance.
If I was being extremely critical, I might say that it's a shame I can't see more of the detail in the ground. I guess that's where you need the low light you mention in the note!

Really lovely photo. I especially like the blue cast because it adds an "early morning" feel to the photo and makes it cold, which for some reason works with this castle.
I'm not too sure about the tree in front of the castle but again, it doesn't really detract. Love the swans too.
    A really well presented photo.
