    Hello Malgo

Well you probably are aware of my penchant for b/w images... I like this one a lot: the contrasts and predominantly low-key treatment create a certain atmosphere, and the strange geometries, especially on the left, are intriguingly abstract. Nice one.

    Hello Ian

So you've "trawled" through your archive as well and also come up with an image from Viet Nam. Great minds, etc. These fishing boats look pretty large: certainly sea-going vessels, I reckon. I wonder how often they go to sea these days. I like the eye on each bow. The ancient Greeks did the same, I believe. Don't mind the rain: it gives the shot a certain authenticity.

    Hello Benny

Like Gert I like the interesting sky and the tight crop: I'm guessing that the foreground street contained a lot of distracting - and probably modern - detail, such as street furniture, etc. that you didn't want to include. Lovely spires.

    Hello Kasia

Your chosen genre is "people", so I guess you've answered your own question! But either way this is a splendid photograph: for me, a landscape enlivened by the presence of the three brightly-clad figures, who, along with their reflections, absolutely nail the shot. Masterful.

    Best wishes

    Hello Abmdsudi

Hats off for a wonderful grab-shot! The pre-focussing has worked a treat and your ability to shoot à la sauvette is undoubted. But it's the expressions and sense of joy and excitement which is so endearing. Lovely work.

    Hello Ian

I count myself as one of the lovers of broken buildings! This is an excellent example of the genre, and for me is a nostalgic reminder of the year we spent in Australia. We were based in Newcastle, but travelled a fair bit around the 'interior' of NSW, once as far as Tibooburra. Don't remember Taralga though...

Beautiful, heartwarming group portrait. The children have lovely smiles, and the mother, if such she be, is certainly eloquent in her modesty. And your scan appears to be top quality: sharp and true colours. Nice one.

Amazing performance, informative note, not to mention a very satisfying and neat composition. I've never seen this spectacle live: may have to go to an airshow. Hope you and yours remain safe and well, and I hope to see you again in the fullness of time.

    Hello Kasia

A beautiful, heart-rending photograph. Background out of focus, subject placed nicely off-centre, perfectly framed and exposed (of course), so all the technical stuff is in place. But it's the emotional charge that the image carries which makes it so special, vivified by your eloquent note. (BTW you mean 'ravaged', not 'ravished' in the last sentence!)

    Hello Jasmis

Fancy seeing you again after all this time, and in glorious technicolour too! I find it interesting that a photograph of a flock of sheep - ostensibly a pleasant and positive subject - can become, as a result of the lighting and in particular your title, a rather ominous, sinister, even creepy statement. Yes: great film!

I remember this scene well, and took a similar snap, which I may post as a companion piece to yours. A lovely, innocent little tranche de vie. Yours is superior I think, as one can see the dancers behind the glass: I was to one side - near Claude - so only caught the audience!

I love the idea of a peripatetic tree! Joking aside, this is a very pleasant image, which gives a good impression of the upper reaches of the Thames (isn't it often referred to as the Isis in these parts? Pretentious: moi?). The river looks very different from my home town of Southend...
