Salesladies and a salesman. The man on most of the posters is Pedro Pires, who had been re-elected as president of Cape Verde a few weeks earlier. He was Head of state from 2001 to 2011. It may be worth noting that Cape Verde is regarded as one of the most stable democracies in the world, where political power has changed hands peacefully several times. The Economist Intelligence Unit, a British based analysis company, put Cape Verde at the 23rd place in its Democracy Index for 2016, narrowly below the USA. (First place went to Norway, followed by Iceland and Sweden.)
