A few days ago I opened the file of photos from my very first journey with a digital camera, to Cape Verde in early 2006. I posted several photos from that journey when I was a newcomer to TE a year later, but I must have made very bad choices then, because I have returned to that file several times in later years and found much better photos than those I first selected.
So here I go again. This is from a small town called Cidade Velha, Old City, the first Portuguese settlement on Santiago Island, a short distance from the present capital Praia. I had gone there by bus, taken a walk to a few sights of limited interest and planned to return to Praia. I found a number of people also waiting for a bus. They all looked tired and frustrated, so they had probably been waiting a long time already. I took a few pictures before I left. I don't remember how I got back to the city, but I probably used my position as a rich white European to take a taxi.
This photo mainly appealed to me for the colours and textures and the four persons' expressive body language.
Here is a larger version.
Other persons also waiting in vain for a bus can be seen in two workshop photos.

This time I will stay in Cape Verde for a few more uploads.
