When we headed over to the Oregon Coast for the trip back to San Diego, the weather had cleared to beautiful scattered clouds and sunlight. However, when we awoke the next morning, in North Bend, a town just north of Coos Bay, the weather in was solidly rainy. We decided to change the goal of our trip from photos to a Crab Crawl; seeking one of the tastiest crabs, the Dungeness crab. (3 photos)

I first saw a Windstar vessel in San Diego about 12 years ago. Since I love to sail, the ship with its four 100 foot masts seemed like the perfect way to cruise. Imagine really sailing rather than one of those big floating hotels.

However, it's not a good idea to imagine anything as perfect because the reality never quite measures up. Still, it was a pretty good trip. :-) Turns out the best part of the trip was the wonderful tour of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia area with the masterful tour guide, TE member, Livia Comandini. ... Visit Baja California Sur & avoid the worst of the development & tourist frenzy. With supermercado & local café prices 25% higher than San Diego; Yahoo Travel Zoo’s all-inclusive rate of $50/day for TWO, including alcoholic beverages & tips, was amazing. Located beside the Estero de San Jose del Cabo, the El Presidente, caters to Canadian tourists. At first, it’s quite relaxing to be relieved of all money decisions. Then we were off; first to San Pedrito Surf Hotel on the Pacific side of El Cabo then to Cabo Pulmo on the Sea of Cortez. (11 photos)

Cascade Lakes Loop by Pat Lim (19694) 2006-09-17 - 2006-09-23

The best resource for this trip is the Cascade Lakes Scenic Drive & Recreation Guide. The trip is billed as a one day driving tour of the Cascade Lakes Highway. The round trip is only about 150m/241k. Howerer, Starting at Mt Bachelor, you can cycle mostly downhill to 6 different lakes in 25-30 miles. I've listed this trip with a longer time range so I can make sure the photos are in order. I've also included two lakes at the end that are considered part of the Cascade Lakes Loop but were taken on other days. (15 photos)

Alaska by Pat Lim (19694) 2005-04-25 - 2005-07-31

We left San Diego, California for Alaska in April and returned in July. Traveling in a 4WD pop-top camper allowed us to stop when we liked while still being able to drive back roads. Notable events were the ferry rides, chasing the salmon runs up and down the Kenai Peninsula, fishing with eagles and bears, and capturing wildlife with a camera.
