The Palácio Nacional de Queluz was the royal residence of two generations of monarchs. It was built at the instigation of King Pedro III (1717-1786), to whom the Quinta de Queluz belonged, when he was the third Lord of the House of the Infantado, created in 1654 by a warrant from King João IV for the second sons of the kings of Portugal.
