| Introdução: | 25 years ago I received a fully manual body with two good lenses. I used to take B&W shots or diapositives. Later I forgot about photography busy that I was with familly, work and chess playing. My tele zoom died recently, I discovered a lot had changed in photo hardware: Automatic exposure, autofocus, digital, ... all these new features are still strange and difficult to me. I have a lot to understand and learn, that's what keeps me going with my camera everywhere. Update February the 7 - 2006 : After one year and an half exploring the possibilities of digital photography, I'm far from finished with it. You all still have a lot to teach me. However for a trek in the desert I went back to old ways. When you need a full 15 days of autonomy, an argentic/analog device remains a lot lighter, I'm speaking of weight: kilograms of batteries and disks. The analog mechanic is also a lot simpler and thus less prone to failure in an agressive sand and dust environment. I went to the desert with an old Olympus OM1 (a model dating back to the year 1972). A camera without any metering automatism and - on mine - a failing light meter that lead me to work with a handheld exposure meter. I worked mainly with Kodak Black and White films and a few Fujichrome provia for colors. I think I got some nice pictures but mostly I had a lot of fun re-discovering tools I had left sleeping for too long. Exploring digital photography just motivated me back again for photography in general. Update March 29th 2008 I haven't posted since a long time: I grew tired of the point market on TE. I still have a look from time to time to the many good pictures posted by you all. In the meantime I have set up my own site. | |
