Photographer’s Note

These 2 "cabanes tchanquées" (wooden houses on piles - tchanque = long leg in old gascony language) are on the main island (Bird island) of the Arcachon bay At high tide, they are just above the sea level. At low tide, if you get a boat, you can land on the sandy beach and walk close to them. The one on left has been rebuilt this winter and should become a museum, the second one is for rent (due to the flag, it seems that Swiss personns were in it during my visit)
