Photographer’s Note
A very postcardy shot of Lake Bled in spring complete with snow capped mountain backdrop. The walk around the lake provides a continually changing scene of lake, mountains, forest and, of course, the church on Bled Island and Bled Castle high above the lake. If you were using film you'd go through a couple of rolls and it is only 6km around. Bled is one of those places that keeps drawing people back - my brother (we're from Australia) is about to visit for the 4th time.

This is a very nice postcard shot! The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The inclusion of the buildings on the top of the rock on the right provides nice balance for the church. The snow capped mountains and nice sky provide a good backdrop for the shot.

Hi Ian.
Beautifully composed shot, placing the church nicely left of centre, counterbalanced by the buildings on the right, more distant. The background of mountains is spectacular. I suggest the use of a circular polariser in this kind of sunlight. It would give yolu a darker sky and more definition for the clouds.

Hey Ian,
An excellent photo of Bled. Beautiful colors, sharpness - and of course the central motive. Nice DOF, so we still see the castle in the background.
Interesting how it draws people back time and again, even if you live 16,000km away. Your brother has probably spent more time there than me, and I live 50km away. Shame on me. :) Although I do prefer Bohinj. It`s not about all the tourists and all that, but the scenery is in my opinion nicer around Bohinj.

Hi Ian
Slovenia is beautiful, I travelled here before emigrating to New Zealand. We had not so good weather at Lake Bled as it was November time, but the scenery was still amazing. The alps in the bg are postcard like with excellent light management. Memories come flooding back, how I wish I was not so far away from Europe sometimes.
