Photographer’s Note
The Redoubt of Mount Cintra (or Mount Sintra) vulgarly known as Fort of Sacavém, is situated in the city of Sacavém, municipality of Loures, district of Lisbon, in Portugal. Situated in the right edge of the river Trancão, in the call Sintra Mount of where the name happens it, scarce the 800 meters of its confluence with the river Tagus, its construction dates to the beginning of XIX century, in the cenary of the workmanships of blockhouse of the Portuguese capital, implanting themselves in the top of a small mount about 35 meters of altitude and thus assuming a strategical position that involves the surrounding space. The plant has an irregular pentagonal format (Vauban type) and is encircled by an irrigation ditch, being partially embedded in the ground, what makes it unperceivable when seen from an inferior altitude, making possible the absorption of an eventual impact of a projéctil gone off in its direction; also it was prepared to receive fast infantry in the rear and artillery in the flanks. Moreover, it was found surrounded by old plants (Plant of Loiça de Sacavém, industries cooper and of peel of rice), and presently, for habitacionais blocks and the Ceramics Museum of Sacavém. On the east side runs the railroad of the Azambuja, with the station of Sacavém behind the fort, as well as the Park of the Tagus river and Trancão river, in the area of the Park of the Nations.

O Reduto do Monte-Cintra (ou Monte-Sintra) vulgarmente conhecido como Forte de Sacavém, localiza-se na freguesia e cidade de Sacavém, concelho de Loures, distrito de Lisboa, em Portugal.
Situado na margem direita do rio Trancão, no chamado Monte Sintra donde lhe advém o nome, a escassos 800 metros da sua confluência com o rio Tejo, a sua construção remonta ao início do século XIX, no quadro das obras de fortificação da capital portuguesa, implantando-se no topo de um pequeno morro a cerca de 35 metros de altitude e assumindo assim uma posição estratégica que envolve todo o espaço circundante.
De planta no formato pentagonal irregular (tipo Vauban), encontra-se rodeado por um fosso, estando parcialmente enterrado no solo, o que o torna pouco perceptível quando visto de uma altitude inferior, para além de possibilitar a absorção do eventual impacto de um projéctil disparado na sua direcção; estava também preparado para acolher infantaria ligeira na retaguarda e artilharia nos flancos.
Além disso, achava-se circundado por antigas fábricas (Fábrica de Loiça de Sacavém, indústrias tanoeira e de descasque de arroz), e presentemente, por blocos habitacionais e pelo Museu de Cerâmica de Sacavém. A leste corre a linha de caminhos de ferro da Azambuja, com a estação de Sacavém mesmo por detrás do forte, bem como o Parque do Tejo e do Trancão, na área do Parque das Nações.

Hi Paulo, simple composition - but very effective. Really like the perspective created by the building on the right and the mound on the left, tunneling the viewer towards the lone palm tree in the centre. Bright, vivid colours and a wonderful sky nicely darkened by the polarizer.

As cores estão lindas e o céu polarisado fico excelente. Nunca tinha ouvido falar de tal forte e não percebo muito qual seria no século XIX o perigo que poderia vir desse lado. Mas enfim, eles lá sabiam porquê.

I was impressed, first of all, by the bright rich colours: yellow-golden, blue and green (thanks to the sunshine!):) Excellent perspective view, it looks a little "geometrical" with long straight diagonal lines crossing at the invisible line at he horizon... somewhere behing the lonely palm-tree!
very good POV and good depth.
Interesting WS photo, too! it helps see the place better, from different angles.

It's a very graphic shot, well framed and executed. Color contrasts between blue and yellow are bold and add flavor to your photograph. Personally I would had preferred some people walking around, but that's my personal style if it is possible. The clouds add life to your shot instead of persons hahaha. Thanks for sharing
