Photographer’s Note
Another title based on a filming location. This was the bridge used in the last remake of the story, where Robert Powell escaped from the police searching the train. A much shot view of the Seven Valley Railway, but not one I've seen on TE.
Still scanning old slides.
Tech: Used Chris' advice with lasso and Gausian blur, cropped a bit of the uninteresting sky.

Very nice capture Richard as you caught this train at an opportune moment as it crosses this bridge. Reminds me of my Hornby Railway days.

Strange impression that it tilts to the right. But, a great photograph with an excelent low POV. Your old slides are a treasure. Real great stuff you've been posting lately.

Evocative reference to a classic book and quite famous movie Richard. You grabbed me immediately. This scan turned out quite well. It definitely conveys England as I remember it with a sense of dampness that translates into nicely saturated colors. And we get to do a little trainspotting as well. Great fun! And to my eye, the softness of the image works well with the subject. I like it.

Great composition and timing, Richard. I love the colours in this. As you say to Gal, the water is level, so it must be the bridge that's slanting a bit. Anyway, it's a lovely shot that captures the romance of the railways.

J'aime beaucoup votre photo pour sa composition bien équilibrée (peut être légèrement inclinée), et pour le contraste des couleurs des wagons et celles du paysage. Félicitations

I agree with Gal, these old shots are really good, I'm glad you bought a scanner ;o) Sorry to say i havn't read the book or seen the film, but I still think this is really good, the steam, the light, even the little group of cows staring at a group of people - all good.

Lovely scenary you captured here Richard - I like the river and cows as background for this fine trainset. I believe to have seen this movie - but anyway will I remember this next time its around on TV.
Great to know that movies are/where made on locations :-)

You caught the train right on time, the composition is good and colours are very good, but the picture is a little bit dark, you should raise a little bit the levels.

I love this shot (I like travelling by train very much). The pov is just fantastic, showing some activities under the arch of the bridge. The train speeding over the bridge: it seems like it was taken ages ago.

Composition and capture looks very matching.
The children behind the bushes on the other side of the river caught my attention for some reason. But they add some taste as well.
the WS summer89 did also noteworthy to look.

I have hundreds of shots of the Severn Valley but not one of the Victoria Bridge,it is a well balanced shot with the large Pannier well positioned near the edge of the bridge. There does however appear to be a slight left to right slope so I would have realligned the shot a touch.
