The Church of the Transfiguration in Khabarovsk, during an afternoon thunderstorm. I took shelter here from the rain & wind-squalls.

From Wikipedia:

"Unlike Vladivostok, the city has never been closed to foreigners, despite it being the headquarters of the Far East Military District, and retains its historically international flavor. Once the capital of the Soviet Far East (from 1926 to 1938), since the demise of the Soviet Union it has experienced an increased Asian presence. It is estimated that over one million Chinese travel to and through Khabarovsk yearly, and foreign investment by Japanese and Korean corporations has grown in recent years."

China is just 25 km away across the Amur River, which forms the Russian / Chinese border for hundreds of km.

Olá Chris. Excelente foto. Boas côr e definição de um belo monumento. Parabéns. Américo.

Hello Chris,
this is great,I think the stormy-cloudy sky is nice for this church view with this vertical format.also the perspective by the lamp posts is well composed.what a silence here (in the photo) !
well worked,Thanks,
Best Wishes
M

Hi Chris,
the golden tops are great and the rest is a astonishing and interesting colour view with that unexpected green. I like the clear sharpness and contrasts and the POV using the lights to lead the eye to the church. Beautiful architecture.

Hallo Chris
thank you for sharing your trip to this Russia land, seems you go everywhere
excellent capture of the church, I like the angle, and it looks stand strongly

Hi Chris.

Nice idea the light compared with the church...

well done!

Hello Chris,
Good pov on the church in a composition that perfectly suits the vertical format. I like the lead in from the coloured paving stones and the contrast between church and overcast sky. I just find the tilt in the lamp posts a little unnerving ;-)

Hi Chris,
Fine point of view and good composition. The lampposts take care for good depth in the image.
groet Rob

Hi Chris,

I am struck by how much this church looks like the "Christ the Saviour" church in Moscow, just on a smaller scale. In fact, when I saw the thumbnail I that that's what it was. Nice shot, and I like how you placed the church off centre and used the street lamps to balance the photo. Well done!

Hi Chris,

Great shot of this church. I like the POV here as it seems like it's reaching for the sky. Great lighting, beautiful colours, I also love the contrast and the details! Great work, Chris!

Greetings,
Ann

Impressive architecture! Your low pov makes it even more. Just a pity that you were unlucky with the wheather.

Hi Chris,
great building very well positioned next to the remarkable streetlights.
Regards, Gerrit

Hi Chris,
You got a much better rendering on this one than on your previous uploads, very nice rising papagolfade and its clear structures standing well against the sky, plus the mandatory russian domes glow.
Have a nice week end,
Jean-Yves

"Ca penche" :-))by the effect of distortion, but the result with these contrasts and colors is very effective, even graphic. Well shown this is a good place too.

Good work Chris. You use well the foreground lamp posts to present the fine church. The low pov really makes this a bit extra.

Namaste Chris
A wonderful picture of the orthodox church, from a lesser shown place. The dark clouds do create a good backdrop to the golden domes & the white walls. The lampposts on the left balance the picture well.
