Photographer's Note

The view west to Ulva, Isle of Mull.

Driving along the narrow west coast road at the end of the day is a great experience, especially on a clear evening when the sunsets can really turn into something special.
The road hugs the rocky coast and passes some dramatic scenery, at one point passing beneath towering cliffs on the one side with the sea crashing against the rocks on the other.
While driving along, I could see that the sun would set between the island of Ulva on the left and the cliffs on the right, so it was a matter of racing the sun along the narrow road, taking care to avoid the sheep and lambs who seemed to have chosen the tarmac as their bed for the night.
Leaping out of the car at an appropriate spot, I just had time to jam on my tele zoom plus 1.7 x teleconverter before the sun disappeared from view. No digital trickery this time by the way, in case you were wondering...
